Case filed against Javed Habib for spitting in woman’s hair, apologized

Famous hairstylist Jawed Habib has been embroiled in a controversy over a video.

A case has been registered against Javed Habib for spitting in the hair of a woman during an event in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh .

According to the Indian Express , an FIR under sections 355 (assault) and 504 (causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Epidemic Act has been registered at the Mansoorpur police station after the woman received a complaint.

Video of woman spitting in hair went viral

According to officials, a program on hair care was organized at a hotel in Muzaffarnagar four days ago in which Javed was the chief guest.

A video from the event has gone viral on social media in which Javed can be seen spitting instead of pouring water while cutting a woman’s hair.

In the video, Javed says, “If there is a shortage of water, you can just spit… This spit has life.”

The woman later issued a statement accusing Javed of misbehavior and lodged a complaint against him.

The woman said, “I run a beauty salon and was attending a seminar by Javed Habib. I was called on stage to get a haircut. He (Javed) misbehaved with me. He said if you have water. If not, you can also use spit to cut the hair

.After the controversy over the matter escalated, Javed apologized by releasing a video on social media.

Javed said in the video, “Some words spoken during the event hurt people. These sessions are attended by professionals and they usually get long. Sometimes you have to maintain the humour. Despite this I I will say from my heart that if you have been hurt then I apologise, forgive me.”

Taking cognizance of this matter, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has also written a letter to the Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh demanding action in this regard.

The commission has sought action taken report from the DGP of Uttar Pradesh at the earliest.

Apart from this, the commission has also written a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana urging him to take action against Javed Habib.

The commission will also send a notice to Javed and seek his reply in this matter.
