According to Congress sources, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary will continue as the Lok Sabha leader. The Congress leadership had convened a meeting on Wednesday ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament. It discussed the removal of Adhir Ranjan from the Lok Sabha party leadership, but it was decided that he should remain in office for the time being.
Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary was replaced by senior leaders Shashi Tharoor, Manish Tiwari and Gaurav Gegoi Ranveet Bittu as Lok Sabha party leaders. However, Congress sources said that this would not change and that Adhir Ranjan would continue as the party leader at the monsoon session.
Apart from Adhir, the meeting was attended by Congress presidents Soni Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
There were reports that Trinamool Congress leader and Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Adhir Ranjan had difficulty reconciling with Trinamool activists and could therefore be removed from office. But the party does not want to go to such a decision for the time being.
