Thiruvananthapuram: There are reports that Thushar Vellapally may resign as NDA state convener. Thushar Vellapally has announced his resignation at an emergency meeting of BDJS today. An official decision on the matter may be taken after the meeting. The NDA, which lost the assembly polls by a landslide, also saw a sharp decline in vote share.
In a meeting with BDJS leaders, Thushar Vellapally had said that the NDA did not want the state to remain in the position of convener. Earlier, there were reports of a rift between the BJP and the BJP. There are rumours that the alliance with the NDA will end after the elections.
Thushar’s resignation comes amid continuing divisions within the Kayamkulam NDA over alleged failures in the election campaign. The split came to light when the BJP came out and accused the BJP of not cooperating in the elections. The BJP has alleged that election posters were not pasted in many places, petitions and sample ballots were piled up in the homes of many BJP leaders, and that there was negligence in setting up flex boards. At the BDJS meeting held last day, there was strong criticism against the BJP.
BDJS said those who were excited in the first phase eventually withdrew. Four days have been lost in the campaign just to change the BJP leaders’ feud, and the leadership has blamed the fallout on the desire of some BJP leaders to take over the constituency if the BJP loses votes.
